Voici des Mauritia arabica asiatica de Ceylan. Je les ai trouvées à la brocante annuelle de Sartrouville (2007). Un stand en vendait depuis plusieurs années et je lui en achetais cinq ou six tout les ans (20 cts pièce). La personne avait hérité de ces coquilles d'un oncle mais ne savait plus dans quelle île il avait vécu. D'autres petites coquilles dont des Oliva caractéristiques du Sri Lanka confirment ce que leur aspect laissait penser. Elles sont petites, fusiformes, lourdes, calleuses, bien marginées. Certaines ont le fond de la coquille bleu, deux sont en voie de nigérisation, les points noirs du bord, gros ou petits, bien dessinés, la couleur de la base va de crème clair à blanc/bleu. Les plus grosses sont plutôt rondes. Je les d'abord classées Cypraea arabica arabica naine tant elles sont différentes de Cypraea arabica asiatica surtout la base; la couleur des dents va du brun clair au brun rouge. Visibles sur Seashell-collector répertoriées comme Mauritia arabica asiatica dwarf! Il est possible qu' une ou deux ''rondes'' soient des Mauritia arabica arabica naines. Taille : 30 / 40 mm.

Here are some Mauritia arabica asiatica from Ceylon. I found them at the annual flea market of Houilles (2007). A stand had been selling for several years and I bought five or six of them each year (20 cts each). The person had inherited these shells from an uncle but did not know in which island he had lived. Other small shells, including characteristic Oliva from Sri Lanka, confirm what their appearance suggested. They are small, fusiform, heavy, callous, well margined. Some have the bottom of the blue shell, two are on the way to nigerization, the black dots of the sides, big or small, well drawn, the color of the base goes from clear cream to white / blue. The larger ones are rather round. I first classified them Cypraea arabica arabica dwarf as they are different from Cypraea arabica asiatica especially the base; the color of the teeth ranges from light brown to reddish brown. Visible on Seashell-collector listed as Mauritia arabica asiatica dwarf! It's possible that one or two ''rounds'' are Mauritia arabica dwarf. Size: 30/40 mm.
